Was ich gelernt habe

Was dabei herauskommt, könnt ihr euch vorstellen.

▶ To the game page: Lockdown Legends – draw a card, roll the die, sign up
On Sunday evening, 11 October, the moment had come: at the Laidak in Neukölln, Lockdown Legends hit the table in public for the very first time. A small, intimate round – hand-picked guests, or rather friends. And I can't put it any other way: it was a complete success. The LOCKDOWN LEGENDS PROTOTYPE went public for the first time – we laughed a lot, hoarded, denounced and traded toilet paper – pretty much the way I had imagined it.

Ulrike Guérot becomes a card
A very special guest sat at the table that Sunday evening: Ulrike Guérot. Her book “Wer schweigt, stimmt zu” (“Silence means consent”) put into words so much of what I felt back then but couldn't express nearly as well as she did. All the more reason I'm delighted to announce today: Ulrike Guérot is becoming a card in Lockdown Legends. In the game you have to work your way up to level 8 to become a Lockdown Legend. Ulrike Guérot made it there in real life long ago.

What I learned
A playtest is there so you learn something – and I did. For people who aren't used to this kind of game, it was at times a bit of a rules overload. Roles, situations, black market, denunciations, traffic light, events – all at once can be overwhelming.
For next time that means: streamline. For first-time players I'll leave out a few card types to begin with, so people get into the game faster. The rest you discover round by round. The fun at the table was definitely there – and that's what matters most.
What happens next
The next playtests are being planned. Whether we'll play at the Laidak again or somewhere else is still open – if you have a venue and would like to invite us, just get in touch at [email protected].

Thanks to everyone who was there – and to the Laidak for hosting us.
Stay witty! ;)

The fogged-up glasses get new lenses
One card stood out in particular during the playtest: the fogged-up glasses. Whoever gets them can no longer see their own hand and has to play blind. Funny – but honestly, pretty harsh.
That's why it's getting a new text: from now on you hold your hand of cards the wrong way round. Everyone else can see them, just not you – and the others are allowed to “help” you. You can imagine how that turns out.
